Reason for Tip

Two year old Night Wolf has only ran once, and that was in the hotly contested and valuable Class 2 Convivial Maiden at York back in August. He looked green that day and started slowly before finding his feet and finished very nicely to finish fifth. Should come on a lot from that run and it’s the strongest form available here by quite a long way. There is some newcomers, but none look overly threatening and bar one, none are from yards particularly known for their debutants. Night Wolf may prove a little too strong for this lot today and is well drawn to get out nicely and positioned well. Course debut today and first run for the Spencer yard and whilst yard and jockey aren’t the most formidable in the business, there should be a win for them both today here as this race looks Night Wolfs race. Looks the winner.

The Futurity Trophy Stakes could once again be heading back to Ballydoyle. Aidan O’Brien has won this race four times, and Benvenuto Cellini looks well placed to make it five.

The colt has shown immense progression this year, crowned by a stylish Group 2 Juvenile Stakes win at Leopardstown last month. His figures were exceptional that day, and with further improvement expected, he sets the standard here.

Drawn well and representing elite connections, he looks a class above most of this field. Christophe Soumillon hasn’t had much luck at this track, but from stall 3, this colt should make his quality count.

Five year old who is largely consistent and does most of his running here at this track and has recorded two wins over C&D. Dubai Honour is on a very workable mark and only one higher than his win here earlier this year when beating one of the horses in this line up. Lto was his first run for 4 months and he looked great, went down third that day despite not being fully fresh and now he is likely to strip much fitter today. Has the ability and course experience to get the job done in a race like this and with the bookies paying four places, a place at minimum looks rather likely at a nice price.

Big-field handicap here in the 2.20 Cheltenham, with bookmakers paying up to five places — ideal conditions for a lively outsider. Ballycamus fits that bill perfectly.

This eight-year-old is a proven stayer who rarely runs a bad race when fit. Returned from a six-month break with a cracking second at Chepstow over this same trip and should come on plenty for that.

Back down to a very workable mark, trained by one of the best Cheltenham yards around, and ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, who knows him inside out — the signs are positive for another bold showing at value odds.

Top weight Daisy Roots is somewhat inconsistent but has done her best running here at Lingfield, including two wins this year, the latest of which was two starts ago in September. Remains on a very workable mark and the fifth lto was in a hotter race than this. Well drawn in this and despite being top weight has the ability and experience to take another Lingfield race like this. Has Donagh Murphy aboard today with a 7lb apprentice claim and there’s lots to like. Big player.

Three year old who after dropping into Class 6 handicaps on a very tempting mark went off favourite last week at Wolverhampton. He was caught wide there and ultimately didn’t finish strongly as a result but he looked strong, prominent, and very capable for the majority of that race. Gets to run off the same weight today and that makes him very tempting, yard have reached for a tongue-tie and that may add a little spark. Represents a good yard with a decent record here and has a top jockey aboard in Billy L. Likely contender.

Reason for Tip

This seven year old is pretty well treated on best form after his mark slid down earlier this year. As a result we’ve seen signs of threatening the win on last two starts with results of 2nd at 3rd, the second place finish being here over C&D. Has won twice here previously and is capable of getting the job done, has a decent draw today and steps back up to 7f which is a positive change. This boy often sits towards the rear and comes over the top and the extra furlong suits him doing that which is what we saw on both wins here. Lewis Edmunds aboard today and this is arguably a weaker race than lto so he has a big chance today to resume winning ways.

Thrice raced three year old from the Haggas yard who goes handicapping for the first time today and does so at a rather weak entry point. This isn’t a strong race and we’ve seen this youngster progress already on each start so further progression is almost guaranteed. Makes course debut here today but nothing to suggest that will be an issue and the trip is well within range. Represents a major yard with a good jockey aboard and both have good records here. Is more unexposed than any of this field and looks a major threat. With any further improvement it probably results in a win on this handicap debut.
