Reason for Tip

Thrice raced two year old from the Tate yard who goes handicapping for the first time today. He is a talented youngster who proved himself from the off when winning nicely at Beverley on debut. Was sent straight up into a Group 3 after that on second start which was clearly too deep and he finished last but showed his ability and promise when drawing well clear with Allegresse on last start at Kempton. Allegresse runs in a Group 3 at Newmarket today and this is only a Class 2 Handicap and a race where He’s Waliim can return to winning ways. Yard absolutely flying at the moment and top jockey aboard in Daniel Tudhope add further positives to the chances today. Yard have won from 6 from 14 in the last fortnight and quite frankly it is likely going to be 7 from 15 after this race. He’s Waliim looks a cut above the others in this race and may win very comfortably.

Three-year-old colt from the Tate yard who’s been on a steep upward curve with form figures of 2521, landing the win in good style last time out at Wolverhampton. Steps up into a slightly stronger Class 4 today but remains open to further progress and is improving with every run.

The yard is flying with a 38% strike rate in the last month, and the Tate–Rossa Ryan combination is particularly deadly at Kempton — they’ve won nearly half their joint runners here over the last two years. Course debut today shouldn’t be an issue, and Grey Jaguar looks well placed to follow up.

Reason for Tip

Cesarewitch Handicap here at Newmarket in the 3.40 and there’s 21 entrants. One thing we know from the Cesarewitch results of the past is that favourites typically don’t do well bare a couple of winners. Plenty of nicely priced winners have gone in here and we may see that again in this years running. The pick of the bunch, is inform Manxman from the Crisfords. Manxman has proven himself again this year with notable runs at Goodwood and Southwell. Manxman went very close in this race last year but was caught late on by Alphonse la Grande and he should go close again. He is on a good mark and the yard are in fine form and a notable difference today is he has talented apprentice Jack Callan aboard who takes off a very valuable 5lb. Very deep race and will need some fortune in running and if we are being picky, ideally a bit of rain. If the rain comes, his chances get better and better but even if it doesn’t we are likely to see another strong performance and Manxman has what it takes to win this year. Good chance at a lovely price with most bookies paying 5 places.

Big-field handicap over in Ireland where there could easily be a price upset, and Saxon Grace fits the bill. The form figures (400) don’t leap off the page, but her debut fourth was full of promise, and the last two runs came with excuses.

Now switched to handicap company off a lowly mark and with Colin Keane — one of the best in the business — booked for the ride, there’s every reason to expect improvement. Keane has a tremendous record at Navan and this looks a perfect chance for Saxon Grace to bounce back.

Why it’s the Dark Horse:
Low mark, first-time handicap, top jockey booked — and recent dark horses have been hitting the frame.

Highly talented four year old from the Appleby yard who won a couple of times in Meydan before returning to UK soil and coming third in a Group 3 at Newmarket before running well again in a hotly contested Group 3 at Haydock when finishing fourth. Some of the best form in the field and First Conquest is a major player back in this Class 1 at Newmarket. Has good course form, is well drawn, represents a major stable who are on a run of winners and has top jockey William Buick aboard. Lots of positives and has a fantastic chance.

Nicely bred two year old closely related to Nakheel who showed great promise on debut run at Sandown when finishing second. The form from that race has been franked by the winner who went on to place in the Group 1 Marcel Boussac last week. Morshdi is from a top yard who have plenty of success here at York and has stable jockey Tom Marquand aboard for the ride. Lots of very unexposed types here including Morshdi but based on that debut run, and the typical improvement of Haggas yard horses on second start, Morshdi looks a huge player today and would be an unsurprising winner.

Good Earth is an interesting contender in this race as he doesn’t have a good record on the AW but is on a very good mark and drops two classes into Class 6 company today. His form includes a solid second in a Class 5 at Sandown early last month and this is a much weaker race than that. He doesn’t have a good draw but does get out quite quickly usually and so should get a decent enough position to contest at the break. Good Earth isn’t hugely reliable, but this drop in Class is notable and if he is going to win again on the AW, it’s going to be in a race like this. Good chance.

Reason for Tip

Can’t really argue with the form this year as it reads 21212 and if we are following that pattern with any superstition, should win here today. Although the superstitious pattern is not a factor in the pick, because there is plenty of facts to like. This four year old has been highly progressive this term and contested brilliantly in all tests this far. Goes into slightly deeper waters here up a class but has shown stacks of ability and is capable of getting the job done here again. Represents a yard in imposing form with an inform jockey aboard as well. Gavin Sheehan has won almost half of all his rides in the last fortnight which is a remarkable win rate and he also has a good record here at the course too. Snowden yard results are even better with a sensational 58% fortnightly strikerate. Hard to discount any Snowden runners of late and Hope Rising looks the next yard winner in waiting.
