Reason for Tip

Relatively inconsistent earlier this year however has looked a different horse since swapping stables to the Owen’s. Ran well on stable debut when third at Lingfield before winning dominantly on second start for the Owens’ 8 days ago at Wolverhampton and despite the handicapper putting her up 6lb, still looks nicely handicapped. Concedes weight all round off top weight today but is well drawn, now represents a top trainer who are having a great time of things at the moment and has Hollie Doyle aboard for the ride. Both yard and jockey have a good record here and this looks a relatively weak race that looks ripe for the taking by this three year old. Looks the winner.

This filly has looked a rejuvenated horse since joining the Owen yard. A strong third on stable debut was followed by an emphatic win at Wolverhampton just 8 days ago. She’s up 6lb for that success but remains well-handicapped and is clearly in form. Top jockey Hollie Doyle is booked, the stable is flying, and the draw looks ideal for her running style. This is a weak race by comparison and Penelope Valentine has every chance of following up.

Why it’s the NAP: Strong stable form, excellent jockey booking, recent dominant win, and a race that lacks depth.

Large field handicap here today in the 5.55 at Bath and it quite frankly looks wide open. One that catches the eye with a good chance at a nice price is four year old South Shore from the Carr yard. South Shore is only 1lb higher today than when winning at Wetherby back in June. Ran well lto at Chester and has plenty of ability. Unlike some of this field, has creditable course form and has gone close here previously. Well drawn to get out early and not get trapped in the pack and has a fantastic booking in top jockey Hector Crouch who has the talent and experience to give South Shore every chance today. Should hopefully run into the places and with a bit of fortune may just get up to win.

This looks a wide-open handicap, but South Shore catches the eye at a nice price. Only 1lb higher than when winning at Wetherby in June, and ran well last time at Chester. Proven at Bath and well drawn to avoid trouble in running. With Hector Crouch taking the ride, this four-year-old looks well-placed to outrun his odds and could sneak a win if things fall right.

Why it’s the Dark Horse: Nicely handicapped, course form, top jockey booked, and a big price in an open contest.

Six figure breeze up purchase who has only ran once on debut at Pontefract. Finished a close 3rd that day and is likely to take a big step forward here. One of the most unexposed horses in the field and this two year old showed plenty of promise on first start to warrant some faith on this second start. Well drawn, ground should be ideal on pedigree and looks a big player today over the same distance on course debut at Ayr. Top booking in Cieren Fallon and most of this field aren’t much to shout about and it would be no shock to see Starmade get the win.

Thrice raced three year old from the Cunha yard who makes handicap debut today and enters on quite an attractive mark. More unexposed than most of this field and is open to lots of progression now handicapping. Form of 323 looks relatively stagnant, but was a lot closer to the winner lto at Windsor than previous runs and so we have seen improvement which will come again. Has the benefit of Morgan Cole’s 3lb apprentice allowance which makes In the Post even more tempting. Well drawn, yard have a decent record here and this is a wide open race that looks ripe for the taking for this three year old.

Progressive so far this term with form of 37431 and has only been put up 2lb for that win lto. Plenty of scope of slightly increased mark for another big run and the quickfire double is by no means out of reach. Not overly well drawn in stall 11, but Cam Hardie gets the ride and he has the experience and course form to get Heartened in a good position when they break and give this three year old every chance. Relatively weak field, and outside the top three in the betting not much looks threatening. Heartened open to more progress than the other two i feel and is proven at this trip. Big chance.

Doesn’t really seem to be a day that goes by at the moment without a Burke youngster featuring in the selections, but that’s for good reason. He is having quite a remarkable time of things this year with his two year olds, particularly debutants and this is a nice entry point for this nicely bred Wootton Bassett colt. Won’t take a great deal to win a race of this calibre on debut and he is related to some smart sprinters with plenty of pace. Burke knows more than most how to ready a debutant two year old and so Skiathos is a major contender here. S A Gray gets the ride.
