The Swans produced a losing start to the new Championship campaign following a 1-0 loss away from home at Middlesbrough but the Welsh club now return to the home surroundings of their Swansea.com Stadium for this 1st round tie in the EFL Cup.

Likewise, Crawley Town slumped to defeat over the weekend in League Two, losing 2-1 at home to Newport County, leaving the Red Devils sitting second from bottom of the fourth tier table.

Nevertheless, Alan Sheehan’s side will return to their Swansea.com Stadium in confident mood as they seek their first win of the season against League Two visitors, Crawley Town, who have slumped to two league defeats on the trot already this season, suffering losses at the hands of Grimsby Town and Newport County respectively.

Portsmouth started their new Championship season on a positive note following a narrow 1-0 win away from home at Oxford United and the south coast hosts will be hoping to build upon that opening win of the season at Fratton Park on Tuesday night in the EFL Cup.

By contrast, Reading currently sit bottom of League One after being dealt back-to-back losses in the third tier to Lincoln City and Huddersfield Town and The Royals are likely to face another tough night at the office at Fratton Park.

John Mousinho’s side put together an impressive pre-season which saw Portsmouth unbeaten in their six warm-up games, picking up five wins and a draw in the process including a 4-0 thumping of Reading away from home towards the end of July.

Oxford United were beaten 1-0 at home by Portsmouth in the Championship on the opening day of the season but The U’s will be eager to set the record straight at their Kassam Stadium in this 1st round clash.

Colchester United have been involved in two draws on the trot in League Two, sharing the spoils with Tranmere Rovers and newcomers, Oldham Athletic, so the visitors will also be keen to return to winning ways when they hit the road on Tuesday night.
