ITV7 Racing Tips

14:10 – Kind Of Blue @ 13/8 (Win)

Jockey: J Doyle | Trainer: J Fanshawe
Kind Of Blue holds leading credentials on the strength of his top-class form last season, most notably his commanding victory in the Group 1 Champions Sprint at Ascot. That performance marked him as a genuine force in the sprinting division, and he remains lightly raced enough to suggest further improvement is possible. His sole outing this term, when finishing last of nine at Chantilly, can be readily excused after he lost all chance at the start by missing the break. That run bears no reflection on his true ability. He now returns to a more suitable trip and makes his all-weather debut on Tapeta, which is expected to suit given his previous success on Polytrack. Although burdened with a 7lb penalty for his Group 1 win, he still sets the standard on official ratings. With James Doyle booked and conditions in his favour, a bold return to form looks likely.

14:25 – Lake Forest @ 11/8 (Win)

Jockey: T Marquand | Trainer: W Haggas
Lake Forest arrives with a rock-solid profile at this level and the benefit of a recent run in top-class company. A Group 2 Gimcrack winner as a juvenile and a big-money scorer in Australia last autumn, he returned this season with a highly creditable effort in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, finishing a staying-on fifth in a messy affair. He now drops back into slightly calmer waters and should relish the return to 7f – a trip at which he’s previously excelled. The Haggas yard is in fine form, and Tom Marquand retains the ride. Importantly, the race setup promises a true pace, which will allow Lake Forest to settle and deliver his best late. Proven at the course, unexposed at this trip in Britain, and running off a strong official mark, he ticks all the boxes and sets the standard here.

14:40 – Savrola @ 12/1 (Win & EW)

Jockey: C Beasley | Trainer: D Sayer
Savrola has been in excellent form this season, posting a win followed by two narrow defeats, including a neck second at Hamilton over 1m 5f. Although this is his first attempt at 2m, his dominant victory over 1m 6f demonstrated his strong staying ability and suggests he will be well suited by this extended trip. He thrives when allowed to lead, his preferred running style, and looks likely to assume command early before extending away in the home straight. Furthermore, he handles Tapeta well, with a win on the surface to his name, and he carries no headgear, a statistic in which he has previously performed admirably. With scope for further improvement over a longer distance and conditions tailored to his strengths, Savrola is very much a live contender in this contest.

15:00 – Habooba @ 7/2 (Win)

Jockey: T Marquand | Trainer: T Kent
Habooba arrives in the form of her life, having produced a decisive course and distance win last time out, where she had subsequent winners behind her including Jm Jungle. Lightly raced on turf and over 5f, she remains unexposed and open to further progress under these conditions. Her record in current headgear is excellent, winning four from seven when sporting a tongue strap and blinkers. The 6lb rise for that latest success looks manageable, especially as she travelled strongly and put the race to bed with authority. With Tom Marquand booked again and a perfect 1-from-1 record over this track and trip, she looks primed for another big run.

15:15 – Golden Rules @ 9/1 (Win & E/W)

Jockey: S De Sousa | Trainer: T Faulkner

Golden Rules makes a compelling case here, especially given he ran a solid fourth at Kempton off a break – just 4 lb above his mark when finishing a slightly unlucky second in this race in 2023. Now more lightly weighted and back in trip, he could be primed for a strong showing. With just the one outing this term sharpening his fitness yet leaving him fresh, look for him to set a solid tempo before pressing on late. Connections have carefully placed him to strike now, and he’s definitely one to watch in this renewal.

15:30 – Kalpana @ 10/11  (Win)

Jockey: C T Keane | Trainer: A Balding
Kalpana brings proven top-level class into this Group 1 and arrives with arguably the strongest form on show. Her third in the Tattersalls Gold Cup over course and distance last month reads especially well, finishing just 1½ lengths behind Los Angeles in a race that has since been strongly franked. That run confirmed she has trained on at four and backed up her Group 1 win at Ascot last October, a performance that showed she stays well and handles cut, but she is just as effective on better going. She is a versatile, consistent filly with five wins from nine starts who rarely runs a bad race and looks primed to strike again at the top level. With her main rival Whirl getting weight but still unproven against older horses, Kalpana’s class and experience could be the difference.

15:45 – Eldrickjones @ 8/1 (Win & EW)

Jockey: C Beasley | Trainer: R Fell
Eldrickjones arrives in top form and looks to have conditions in his favour for another bold showing. A four-time winner on the all-weather, including three wins over this very course and distance, he’s clearly at home here. He returned to action with a comfortable CD win off 82 and has backed that up with solid efforts off higher marks, including a close third last time at Doncaster off 90. Now running off 91, he’s still on a workable mark and is arguably in the best form of his career. With a strong pace likely and his proven finishing kick, he rates a serious threat back at his favourite venue.
