Kempton ITV7 Racing Tips
18:00 – Mahras Love @ 7/4 (Win)
Jockey: C Fallon | Trainer: W Haggas
This three-year-old filly has only had four career starts, so there’s definitely still more to come from her. It’s interesting that she’s been beaten by just two lengths in all of her races. On her handicap debut three weeks ago, things didn’t go her way at all, but she showed a good attitude to stay on strongly at the finish, ending up just a neck behind the second-place horse. Plus, that race was won by a reliable and pretty good horse, so it might be worth giving her another shot.
18:30 – Magnatura @ 4/1 (Win)
Jockey: K Shoemark | Trainer: T Ward
I’m putting my money on Magnatura in this one. Tom Ward’s juvenile, who finished just a head behind Galileo Island on his Leicester debut, seems poised to turn the tables and improve past that rival today. He really sets the standard among the horses with experience in this somewhat less competitive race, giving him a solid chance to claim top honors, especially if he handles the switch to Polytrack after a promising fourth-place finish on fast ground at Leicester. While Galileo Island did edge him out last time, that was his second run, and with that experience advantage now gone, it should be a tight contest, but Magnatura is likely to prove too strong. He’s still the main danger, though, ahead of Rajak and two interesting newcomers, Maskatto and Enhancer, with Andrew Balding’s Maskatto being the biggest concern given his yard’s excellent 25% strike rate with juveniles this season.
19:00 – Cape Orator @ 8/11 (Win)
Jockey: R Kingscote | Trainer: R Beckett
I’m siding with Cape Orator in this one, as the experienced runners don’t exactly set a high standard, and his debut performance strongly hinted he’s up to the task. He finished about four lengths adrift in a deeper race at Newbury in mid-May, and with that experience under his belt, Ralph Beckett’s colt is poised to take a significant step forward and set the bar higher this time, especially considering that Newbury race has since been handsomely franked by the Chesham hero, Humidity. While newcomers like Captain Fox, from a yard with a strong 20% strike rate with two-year-olds, and Ghost Mode are interesting, Cape Orator’s promising debut in a strong race, even with a wide draw, makes him the one to beat.
19:30 – Dubai Beach @ 8/11 (Win)
Jockey: K Shoemark | Trainer: S Bin Soor
It’s hard to look past Dubai Beach here; she’s been on a steady upward climb, securing her second win at Chelmsford just six days ago. Even with a 5lb penalty for that latest impressive victory, it’s unlikely to slow her down, and she looks poised for a hat-trick. She absolutely romped home by over five lengths last time, and is even set to go up a further nine pounds in the handicap in the future, which speaks volumes about her current form. Conditions won’t be an issue, as the first leg of her double was over this very course and distance. While The Outlaw, who recently won at Carlisle, warrants respect, he’s effectively 12lb higher without his jockey’s claim, making Dubai Beach’s task seem more manageable. The biggest threats might come from Port Road, who bounced back to form over this course and distance last time, or possibly Notimeforchitchat, a C&D winner trying blinkers for the first time and dropping back in trip. However, if Dubai Beach is in similar form, she should be tough to beat despite the step up in class.
20:00 – Lunar Orbit @ 6/1 (Win & E/W)
Jockey: F Marsh | Trainer: W Greatrex
This looks like a pretty open race, with a lot of contenders, but Lunar Orbit is the one that really catches my eye. He showed huge improvement in his last start, his second run of the season, back at a mile – a distance where he only flopped once before on heavy ground as a juvenile. He defied long odds at 33/1 to go close in a first-time hood, which is retained for this race, so if he handles the surface, I’m expecting a bold showing. He has a tendency to wander a bit under pressure, but Finley Marsh is a reliable jockey who can certainly get the best out of him. Lazieelunch, a course and distance winner from last August, seems like the main danger and could push Lunar Orbit hard, even with a 4lb rise for a narrow defeat last time. While Pivotal Days, from last year’s winning stable, should improve from his season opener, Lunar Orbit’s impressive last run makes him my top pick.
20:30 – Umbria @ 9/2 (Win & E/W)
Jockey: K Shoemark | Trainer: E Walker
This looks like a tricky race with a lot of contenders, but I’m cautiously backing Umbria. While she didn’t show much on her latest turf outing at Goodwood, she’s generally more effective on all-weather surfaces and has proven her ability over this course and distance, winning here in November and then narrowly missing out when sent off as favorite on her run before that. She’s got the potential to bounce back strongly and be right in the mix. Federated, a two-time winner here, also comes into consideration; his last run at Newcastle can be forgiven as he was caught wide, and drawing stall two this time should help. Keep an eye on Trojan Storm too, who ran well here last time after winning a Class 5 race, and given it was his first run back from a break, he should be fitter with only eight career starts under his belt. Others like Kingkeer, Don Simon, and Crystal Mariner could also be in the shake-up if they rediscover their best form.
21:00 – Fram Castle @ 5/2 (Win Only)
Jockey: J Egan | Trainer: D J S Ffrench Davis
Fram Castle looks rock solid in this one. While Letmebetheboss will likely be well-backed for a double, a 6lb rise and the untested two-furlong step up in trip could make things tough for him, even if he’s likely to be close if his stamina holds out. Fram Castle, on the other hand, is perfectly placed to take the win, having already scored over this course and distance last time out and facing only a manageable 2lb rise. He’s clearly heading in the right direction and should have enough in the tank to come out on top again. Though The Colorist might struggle with the trip, Autumn’s Breeze looks like a good each-way shout, having shown promise on her seasonal return over 1m4f here and shaping as if this longer 2m trip will be right up her alley.
