Leicester City v Hull City Preview
Leicester City are staring at the unthinkable — back-to-back relegations — as they host promotion-chasing Hull City in a high-stakes Championship encounter.
After dropping out of the Premier League last season, Leicester were widely expected to challenge at the top end of the second tier. Instead, managerial instability and inconsistency have left them battling for survival with just three games remaining.
Gary Rowett is the third permanent boss of the campaign, but the Foxes have managed only 11 league wins all season. A damaging 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth last time out left them on the brink, with rivals pulling clear and two tough fixtures against top-six sides still to come.
Hull City, meanwhile, are pushing in the opposite direction. Sergej Jakirovic’s side sit sixth with 69 points, holding a two-point cushion over seventh place in the race for the playoffs. However, momentum has stalled at a crucial time — the Tigers are winless in four matches and have not won in the league for a month.
Despite that wobble, Hull boast one of the stronger attacking partnerships in the division, with Oli McBurnie and Joe Gelhardt both on 14 league goals this season. Against a fragile Leicester defence, opportunities should arise.
With desperation on one side and playoff ambition on the other, this contest promises intensity, urgency and likely goals.
