Royal Ascot Day 5 ITV 7 Racing Tips

14:30 – Treanmor @ 13/8 (Win)

Jockey: W Buick | Trainer: C Appleby
Treanmor, a colt of exceptional breeding, delivered a highly impressive performance on his debut over six furlongs at Newmarket. His current odds of 13/8 are somewhat surprising, likely reflecting trainer Charlie Appleby’s recent Royal Ascot record, despite his string demonstrating good form in defeat throughout the week. The extended distance of an additional furlong in this race is anticipated to be a significant advantage for Treanmor.

15:05 – Ghostwriter @ 13/2 (Win & E/W)

Jockey: D Egan | Trainer: C Cox
Ghostwriter, a four-year-old, has been competing at the highest level of racing and should find this Group 2 company more suitable. Notably, in three of his last four starts in top-tier races, he has achieved a Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 120 on each occasion. These consistently high ratings demonstrate top-level form, even without securing a victory. As such, he is expected to be a significant contender in this Group 2 event.

15:40 – Flora Of Bermuda @ 7/1 (Win & E/W)

Jockey: P J McDonald | Trainer: A Balding
Flora Of Bermuda was previously believed to require softer ground to perform optimally; however, her recent neck-defeat to Inisherin at York on good to firm going, where she was notably hampered awaiting a clear run over a furlong out, suggests otherwise. She is expected to be a strong contender here.

16:20 – Comanche Brave @ 9/2 (Win & E/W)

Jockey: R Moore | Trainer: D O’brien
While Remmooz, the favorite, is unexposed and possesses unknown potential, Comanche Brave presents a more progressive profile, benefiting from prior experience at a higher competitive level. He made an excellent transition from his two-year-old season, narrowly missing out on his reappearance at Leopardstown where he pushed multiple Group 1 winner Henri Matisse to within half a length. He then followed that with a respectable effort in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, contending for minor honors against smart opposition after encountering Field Of Gold. Now, dropping back to seven furlongs and to Group 3 company, he appears a very strong contender, particularly with Ryan Moore engaged to ride. At odds of 9/2, he represents a solid win bet.

17:00 – Jarraaf @ 8/1 (Win & E/W)

Jockey: B Loughnane | Trainer: O Burrows

Given his esteemed connections, Jarraaf appears to have been meticulously prepared for this race as his primary seasonal objective, a strategy underscored by his exceptional course and distance record. Last year, he delivered his most compelling performances when dropped to this trip at Ascot, achieving two effortless victories and a narrow second-place finish in Group 3 company. His recent seasonal reappearance at Salisbury, a markedly different track, saw him pull hard early and subsequently tire, an understandable outcome. This race, however, offers a completely different and far more suitable challenge, and with that initial run now under his belt, he should be significantly fitter. Although the draw isn’t ideal, Billy Loughnane, who has previously won on him here and excels on Ascot’s straight course, is back aboard. While Loughnane has been riding longer odds throughout the meeting, Jarraaf, at 8/1, represents his strongest opportunity for a Royal Ascot winner. With bookmakers offering six places, this looks to be an outstanding each-way proposition, assuming the draw does not prove to be the decisive factor.

17:35 – Ernst Blofeld @ 10/1  (Win & E/W)

Jockey: W Buick | Trainer: J & T Gosden
Ernst Blofeld, who finished a creditable fourth in the London Gold Cup over this distance at Newbury last time out, kept on well to be beaten by only 1.75 lengths under William Buick, who retains the ride. Although initially declared for both this race and yesterday’s King George V Handicap over a mile and a half, his connections clearly believe this shorter trip is more suitable, and the addition of first-time cheekpieces offers potential for further improvement.

18:10 – Sober @ 10/11 (Win Only)

Jockey: R Moore | Trainer: A P O’brien
Sober presents a significant opportunity here, especially given trainer W. Mullins’s back-to-back victories in this race with Stratum in 2021 and 2022. Although the horse recently won a 20-furlong hurdle at Killarney 40 days ago, he hasn’t competed on the flat for 309 days, since his move from A. Fabre. Under Fabre, Sober regularly featured in Group 2 and 3 races over distances of 12-16 furlongs and on various surfaces. While there are questions regarding his stamina for this extensive trip, this concern applies equally to all contenders.
