The Matchup:

The 2025 Championship Playoff Final is going to be played between 3rd placed Sheffield United and 4th placed Sunderland. Both sides did threaten the top 2, in particular Sheffield United but just fell short.

Sheffield United finished on 90 points and will feel very unlucky as that total gets you promoted in most seasons, they also had a 2 point deduction so it really was a brilliant season for The Blades. Sheffield United dispatched Bristol City 6-0 in the Semi Finals and will come here with plenty of confidence. Wilder has found a real balance and they have a very strong bench to back up the starting 11. 

Sunderland finished 4th and were well in contention until the new year but fell away. They seem to have been preparing for the Play-Offs for months as their league form really dipped at the end of the season. They beat Coventry in the semi final with a last gasp extra time winner so they will also be feeling confident coming here. Sunderland have a very young side who are extremely talented and are a real dangerous side to come up against.

Head to Heads this season: 

Both sides won their home games during the regular season, Sunderland winning 2-1 at home and Sheffield United winning 1-0 in the reverse fixture so they look extremely well matched.
