F1 Betting Tips – Monaco Grand Prix Prediction and Preview

Round 8 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship takes us to the streets of Monte Carlo for one of the most iconic races in motorsport—the Monaco Grand Prix.

🟢 Race Winner: Oscar Piastri to win – The McLaren is the class of the field in 2025, and Piastri is driving with consistency and confidence. If he secures pole, he could dominate the race.

🟠 Value Bet: Oliver Bearman to finish in the points (Top 10) – The Haas car has shown it can compete for points under the right conditions, and Bearman’s pace and calmness under pressure make this an appealing outsider pick.

The 2024 Monaco GP saw hometown hero Charles Leclerc FINALLY break his Monaco curse and take home the win. His Monaco Grand Prix history includes a failed F2 race win due to a loose wheel, a retirement in his first F1 Monaco race due to a collision, and a failed start in 2021 due to a driveshaft issue. Despite taking pole position in 2021, he was unable to race due to mechanical issues. 

The 2024 event saw his luck change, despite an early red flag after a huge collision between Sergio Perez’s Red Bull and the two Haas cars of Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg, putting all three out of the running. But throughout it all, the Ferrari driver kept a cool head and remained ahead of his rivals to take his first win on the streets of Monte Carlo, beating his previous best result of P4.

Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz filled out the rest of the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

So far in 2025, McLaren have found themselves being the dominant force in F1. They currently lead Mercedes by 132 points in the constructors standings, with Oscar Piastri leading the Drivers Standings by just 13 points to teammate Lando Norris.  McLaren have also won 5 of the 7 Grand Prix races, with the other 2 going to Red Bulls Max Verstappen in Japan and the last race at Imola. 

While Mercedes and Ferrari have shown flashes of performance, they have not come close to matching the pace of Verstappen or McLaren.

1. Monaco is notoriously a difficult place to overtake, especially with the modern F1 cars being significantly larger than those 20 years ago. This has led to the idea that the person who qualifies 1st, tends to win the race. However, in a first for Monaco, all drivers are going to be required to pit a MINIMUM of 2 times, which tends to add an air of unpredictability. 
2. Another consideration is experience and success around Monaco. Max Verstappen has won 2 of the last 4 Monaco races, meaning he has to be factored into it. 
3. The best car currently is the McLaren, and it is incredibly tough to look past them for a race win.
