Brighton v Crystal Palace Preview

The second M23 derby of the season takes place on Sunday afternoon as Brighton & Hove Albion host rivals Crystal Palace at the AMEX Stadium, with just two points separating the sides in the Premier League table.

Brighton sit 13th after 24 league games, having collected seven wins, 10 draws and seven defeats, a run that neatly sums up their season so far. That inconsistency has carried into 2026, with Fabian Hürzeler’s side managing just one Premier League win in January, a month dominated by stalemates.

However, another victory here would lift the Seagulls as high as ninth, keeping faint European hopes alive as the business end of the campaign approaches.

Crystal Palace arrive on the south coast in far more troubling form. Oliver Glasner’s side have gone over two months without a Premier League win, drawing twice and losing five during that period, a run that has dragged them closer to the relegation picture than the top half.

Their struggles were compounded by a humiliating FA Cup exit to Macclesfield, a result that further underlined the lack of confidence currently running through the Palace squad.

With Brighton steadier at home and Palace badly in need of a response, this derby could prove pivotal for both sides’ seasons.

Three year old Sangster trained Marra Donna has been largely progressive despite a little disappointing in first three starts. Improved nicely on handicap debut as so many do when a close third lto at Wolverhampton and looks set to continue that today. Opening mark was low and should be capable of winning on this mark. Has a good draw in stall 3, has some course experience and has a talented jockey aboard in Alec Voikhansky. Is coming up against a short priced stablemate but that opponent has gone up 6lb and may not be able to defy that. Marra Donna is likely to win a race very soon and this looks a good chance.

Le Milos had struggle a little at the end of last year but bounced back to form with a very creditable second at Sandown just after the New Year. Drops back in trip today which should be fine as has ran over the shorter trip a few times in the last year or so. Remains on a workable mark and the big positive here is the ground, bit of a mudlark and will relish the heavy ground that’s forecast. Represents a top yard and has a decent apprentice aboard who has a 7lb claim only furthering the positives for Le Milos. This isn’t an overly strong renewal and looks to be a fantastic chance for this aging horse to grab another victory.

Pretty open race here in the sixth on the Newbury card and one looks very promising is seven year old Captain Bellamy from the Nicholls yard. A couple of the ones ahead of him in the market are running off much higher marks today and look largely opposable. Captain Bellamy remains unexposed in this discipline with only two chases under his belt. Underwhelming chase debut here at Newbury two starts ago but looks a much better proposition lto over C&D when 2nd. Further progress very likely on third run over fences and looks to be on a very workable mark. Runs well on heavy ground and it would be no surprise to see Captain Bellamy come out on top today with Cobden aboard again.

This race is full of youngsters with 0-3 runs and one who looks like he could be a big improver is Charles Darnay from the James Owen yard. Stable has a great record with horses on second start and they usually come on for the run. Wasn’t disgraced at all when beaten only 2.5l into fifth on debut at at Lingfield when sent off 66/1 and looks to be set for a big run today. The sharper track today is likely to be a positive and whilst he’s drawn wide in stall 7, it shouldn’t pose as much as an issue given the trip. Yard are a shrewd bunch at times and have a decent record at Southwell. Pat Cosgrave gets the ride and when combining with this yard at this course, they share a 20% strikerate together. Assuming the further progression comes, could be tough to beat today.

Six year old A Pai De Nom has won three of his five hurdling runs so far and looks to be a talented individual. Has become a very fluid and solid jumper and further improvement is definitely on the cards. Does go over his longest trip yet today at 3 miles but on pedigree it should be more of a positive than anything and his Dam won at this trip. Yard and stable both in strong form and have good records at this course historically. A Pai De Nom was third lto in the Lanzarote at Kempton and the form from that race looks to be pretty decent. The line up for this race today isn’t massively strong and if A Pai De Nom stays the trip and continues his good jumping, this could be a formality. Looks the winner.

Court Drive has been a little inconsistent so far with form of 62274 since November however as a result is now looking rather well handicapped. Drops back to Class 5 company today and this is definitely a weaker race than most of the ones she’s competed in over the last couple of months. Last time she ran in a Class 5 she was second off a mark higher than what she runs off today. She also has arguably a jockey upgrade today in Marco Ghiani who has found plenty of winners in the last couple months and knows how to win here at Southwell. Yard haven’t had a winner in a little while now and whilst that’s never enticing statistically, all bad runs end eventually and Court Drive has a decent chance at nice odds today.

Following a meek midweek cup exit, Juventus will be looking for an immediate response in Serie A when they welcome Lazio to the Allianz Stadium on Sunday evening.

Luciano Spalletti’s influence has transformed Juventus over recent months. The Bianconeri have won seven of their last nine Serie A matches, scoring 21 goals in the process, a run bettered only by title favourites Inter Milan during that period.

Juve’s resurgence has lifted them firmly into the top four, secured their place in the Champions League knockout phase, and maintained an unbeaten home record in Serie A, conceding just eight league goals at the Allianz Stadium. They have also won each of their last three home league meetings with Lazio, strengthening the hosts’ case further.

Lazio, by contrast, arrive in Turin amid growing uncertainty. Former Juve boss Maurizio Sarri is enduring a turbulent second spell in charge, with internal tensions and a thinned-out squad contributing to the Biancocelesti sliding down to 8th place.

The Rome club now sit nine points adrift of sixth-placed Como, and their hopes of European qualification appear to be fading fast. Their struggles are particularly stark away from home; Lazio have scored just six goals in 11 away Serie A matches, their worst return at this stage of a season since 1990, and have managed only three away wins.

Given Juventus’ formidable home form and Lazio’s lack of cutting edge on the road, the balance of this fixture strongly favours the hosts.

Birmingham’s home games tend to open up as they commit numbers forward, but that approach leaves gaps defensively. Leicester carry enough attacking quality and shot volume to punish that, yet they’re rarely watertight on the road. With both sides creating chances and neither set up to sit deep, goals at both ends look very likely.

Chelsea will look to cement their place in the Premier League’s top five when they travel to Molineux to face relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

Life under Liam Rosenior has begun superbly for Chelsea. The Blues have won six of his first eight matches in chargeacross all competitions, including a perfect start in the Premier League, which has propelled them into 5th place and firmly into the Champions League conversation.

Back-to-back league wins over Brentford (2–0) and Crystal Palace (3–1) were followed by an impressive 3–2 comeback victory over West Ham, where Chelsea overturned a two-goal half-time deficit to claim maximum points.

Wolves, by contrast, are staring down the barrel of relegation. After a modest four-game unbeaten run at the start of 2026 (W1 D3), Gary O’Neil’s side have since suffered successive 2–0 defeats to Manchester City and Bournemouth, leaving them a daunting 18 points adrift of safety.

Goals have been a major issue for the hosts. Wolves have failed to score in their last three Premier League games, have blanked in 13 of 24 league matches this season, and have netted just four goals in their last seven home league fixtures at Molineux.

Given Chelsea’s attacking momentum and Wolves’ blunt edge in front of goal, this fixture looks heavily weighted in the visitors’ favour.

Arsenal v Sunderland Preview

Gameweek 24 could hardly have gone better for Arsenal, as Aston Villa slipped up at home to Brentford while Tottenham staged a dramatic comeback to hold Manchester City. Those results left Mikel Arteta’s side six points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Gunners now target a fourth consecutive win in all competitions and have history firmly on their side here. Arsenal are unbeaten in 43 straight home league games against newly-promoted sides, a joint Premier League record stretching back to 1992.

Sunderland, however, arrive with confidence restored after a difficult festive period. Régis Le Bris’s men have won three of their last four matches in all competitions, most recently dismantling Burnley 3-0 at the Stadium of Light.

That victory lifted the Black Cats into 8th place, just five points off the top four, but their away form remains a glaring concern. Sunderland are winless in their last seven Premier League away games, with their last road success coming back in October.

Given Arsenal’s dominance at the Emirates and Sunderland’s struggles on their travels, the hosts look well placed to tighten their grip at the summit.

Boye Mafe has been the most consistent threat for the Seahawks as a pash rusher off the edge and in a superbowl matchup, I would image that he is the most likely player to get to Maye, especially looking at the LT spot with Will Campbell who has given up regular sacks recently.

I have no doubt that this is going to be a tight game across the board, but I just cant help but feel this is Seattle’s year. There’s a great story there with QB Sam Darnold, they are better than new England as an offence and their defence is more than capable of standing up to New Englands offence. As long as Sam Darnold has a clean game, the Seahawks should win this.

Alluding to the last point, I expect this game to be tight. New Englands offence has not been amazing in the post season, albeit last game due to weather restrictions. The Seahawks can score with ease, but are coming up against a complete defence in New England with little weaknesses. As such, a close cagey game with the under hitting.

Hunter Henry is a security blanket for Maye with a pair of safe hands and a skillset that allows him to be open in short yardage situations. Henry see’s a share of targets per game and in a game where the security blanket becomes of increasing need (think Mahomes and Kelce), Henry should easily hit the market here.

One of the old guards of the NFL now, Kupp is in his first season with the Seahawks after spending his career with the LA Rams. I wouldnt put it out the realms of possibility that he retires after this game. He started off the season slowly, which I think was a case of managing his body as his snap count and receptions have increased, especially heading into the playoffs. Only 2 touchdowns all season, but he will see at least 1 endzone target for me.

Since returning from his injury, Hollins has seen his targets increase and play a big impact on the offence. Hollins is quirky, walks barefoot and has weird tendencies but no doubting his football ability. He has not recorded a touchdown since week 4, hence his odds, but with a player that gets 5+ targets a game, he is easily capable of ending up in the endzone.

The star of Seattle and a star of the NFL. JSN has had one of the most spectacular seasons in recent memory and is a constant threat not only deep but on catch after the run. He will be matched up by Christian Gonzalez, one of the NFL’s elite defenders meaning he has a harder task, but JSN is capable of shaking off anyone on any given day.

The perfect combo for Seattle with Kenneth Walker being elite out of the backfield and providing that duel threat the defences hate. He has had a stellar off season since his running back mate Charbonnet went down. Seattle’s offence scores big and we can see both landing here.
